This spacious Victorian home was built in 1900 for William H. Haw, who served as the Eureka County Clerk from 1899 and who also operated a local rock quarry. Local builder Henry A. Poland designed and built this Queen Anne style house for the Haw family. The house embodies such typical Queen Anne characteristics as a juxtaposed roof line, faux balcony, Ionic columns, and stained glass windows. The house was converted into a bed and breakfast in the mid-1980s and has been restored to its original splendor and charm, with modern conveniences added. The interior features a ballroom that can accommodate up to 60 people seated and 80 standing for weddings and events. The Iris House is the perfect place for a quiet getaway or for events such as receptions, weddings, business meetings, or family gatherings. The Iris House has three overnight accommodations equipped with private baths, televisions, Internet connectivity, and phones by request.
The Iris House is a wonderful place for a wedding, reception or both. The bridal suite is a perfect place for a bride to prepare for her wedding day and a romantic escape for the newlyweds and is a welcome reprieve after an exhilarating day. The Iris House is located in the historic section of Eureka a few blocks from the Pacific Ocean and conveniently across from the Cornelius Daly Inn making it a perfect place for accommodating an entire wedding party.
